Solid hardwood is not always an option. When going over in floor heat or a cement slab, engineered is a must for those looking for nothing but the best. To stay true to this statement, 100% of our engineered is now manufactured in North America to the highest standards of quality.
If you have a room in which traditional hardwood flooring is unreasonable or impractical, you may want to consider an engineered floor. Engineered flooring is able to be glued or floated onto a concrete slab or nailed to a wood sub-floor.
Engineered hardwood flooring is a product that is made up of a core of hardwood as well as a top layer of hardwood veneer that is available in all of hardwood species which includes Maple, Red Oak, Yellow Birch to name a few. It is also available in our more exotic hardwood flooring products such as Jatoba, Kempas, Merbau, Purpleheart, and Teak as well as all of the others.
Engineered flooring has the natural characteristics of the hardwood species and not just a small layer. It incorporates a 4.5mm wear layer into a total construction thickness of 13.5mm so that you can rest assured that you are using quality flooring. This makes it a wonderful solution to complete hardwood floors.
There is exceptional strength in the engineered hardwood flooring because of the bonding glue that is used. It is a polyurethane type of glue that gives the stability of hardwood flooring, and along with the nine-ply cross lamination of the plywood core, you will have exceptional firmness and strength. If you are unable to do traditional hardwood floors, this may be an excellent alternative.
When installing hardwood is not an option and engineered is out of your budget, laminate leads to way to style and durability. With multiple colors to choose from in both 8mm and 12mm, we stock nothing but the best laminate. Furthermore, all of our stock now comes with brand new locking systems making installation twice as fast and with less waste.
Selling nothing but the best, Domus Flooring and Stairs carries the full line of the Wicanders' collections.
